Xing Yi Quan uses the 5 elements – metal, wood, water, fire, and earth – to represent the 5 key striking methods.

For each one, Sifu Lomas demonstrates the footwork separately, then the hands on their own in horse stance, and then combines them to teach you the full form. Lastly he demonstrates some two person drills which develops the San Soo 功夫散手 (free-hand) aspect of the forms and the power and mechanics to apply Xing Yi intelligently and with sensitivity.
